Saturday Morning

My Saturday morning today consisted of getting up and walking downtown to the Glendora Annual Christmas Parade, brunch at Brackett Field (small local airport), and back to downtown Glendora for a frosty beverage. I know it is the season that we should be cold and drinking hot beverages, but let's be real, I live in Southern California. It's shorts and t-shirt weather during the day and sweater weather at night. So if you get the chance, try the Peanut Butter Frozen Hot Chocolate from Classic Coffee. It's delicious!

Thanksgiving

Although I don't believe in the tradition of how we celebrate Thanksgiving, I do believe that we all have things to be thankful for each day.

Today I am thankful for my wonderful husband who makes me feel special every day, my family, and for the time I had with my daddy.

What are you truly thankful for today?

Restoration Project

Part of my Labor Day weekend was spent restoring two of these 1950's chairs. They are an adorable addition to my outdoor patio.

Back to School Shake

Christopher started back to school today and I wanted to give him a nice afternoon treat when he got home. Since school now starts in August we are always experiencing extreme heat. What better way to cool off than with a refreshing shake! This Peanut Butter and Jelly Milk Shake hits the spot. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Milk Shake
Makes 1 Serving

3 scoops vanilla ice cream
2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
2 tablespoons strawberry preserves
1/2 cup whole milk
1 tablespoon vanilla syrup

Put the ice cream in the blender and add peanut butter and preserves. Add milk. Finally add vanilla syrup. Blend on low speed until ingredients are mixed, then on higher speed until mixture becomes smooth and thick. Pour into your favorite shake glass and enjoy!

Hugs,
Jenni

Memories

After attending my first Angel game since my Dad's passing, I realized that I don't have many memories that aren't directly tied to my Dad. Although I know it is not a quick or easy process to not completely mourn the loss I feel, I also know that it will be especially long and painful for me. Dad was one of my best friends. There has not been a day that I haven't thought about him and cried over the loss. While mulling it all over I've been learning to play guitar again on my Dad's guitar. Even when challenging I find myself determined to push through those hard times and find joy in what I'm doing. I don't ever plan to be a guitar virtuoso, but it sure has been fun learning to relax with my guitar.

If you've lost someone special to you I'd love to hear about how you honor their memory.

Jess Andrew Roberts Jr Memorial

We will be having a memorial for Jess Andrew Roberts Jr. at Bonelli Park on Friday, July 22, 2011, at 8:00am. This was one of his favorite fishing spots. We will be gathering on the East Shore of the lake. It is a $10.00 entry fee. I have included a map of Bonelli Park and highlighted the route to the gathering. We would love for you to join us.

Following the lakeside memorial we will be gathering at the Autumn Oaks Clubhouse. It is located in Glendora near the corner of Citrus Ave and Foothill Blvd. Please feel free to join us as we will be there as long as people would like to come by. If you would like to stop by we ask that you park at the church next door, "Spirit of Life Bible Church", as there is no parking by the clubhouse. The address is: 1155 W Foothill Blvd, Glendora, CA 91741. If you would like to attend the reception, but won't make it to the lake, please email me at jennburgan@yahoo.com and I will provide directions. For all others directions will be provided at the lake.

In lieu of flowers we will be accepting donations that will be forwarded to the Stroke Care Unit of Pomona Valley Hospital.

Soap Sweater Contest

With summer getting into full swing, it is blazing hot! Who wants to work on large scale yarn projects? Well, while searching out smaller projects I came across this pattern by Designated Knitter for a soap sweater. I just had to give it a try. The idea is that using the wool yarn around the soap not only creates a scrubby, but felts and shrinks a little with use. It lasts as long as the bar of soap, and it took about a half an hour to knit it together.

If you would like a chance to win your very own soap sweater, just sign up with your email to follow my blog and leave a comment here telling me your favorite summertime activity. I will run the contest until Friday, July 8th. The winner will be selected at random and notified by email. Best of luck to y'all!

Revealing Myself

Welcome to pieces of my life. I recently spent an afternoon reading other people's blogs. I loved the idea of seeing a little bit of who my friends are and what they are interested in these days. Although I will post simple news on my Facebook, I realized I didn't have a place to share who I am or what I am interested in today with my friends. Welcome my new blog, "Everything Jenni." I hope that in the days to come you will share a piece of my life with me, and I'd love to hear about your life as well.

Hugs,
Jenni
